Eurorite Celebrates the Port Coquitlam Eurorite FC Scholarship Awards
This past month Eurorite Cabinets sponsored the Port Coquitlam Eurorite FC Scholarship Awards. The scholarship awards have been an integral part the clubs calendar, and Eurorite Cabinets has been proud to support the scholarship program for the past four years!
The Port Coquitlam Eurorite FC is a soccer club with the mission to create a positive and supportive environment providing members of the community with the opportunity to develop physically, intellectually and socially through the sport of soccer.
The club’s scholarship program recognizes players who are well rounded. They recognize players that are dedicated and committed team members, leaders both on and off the field. These players are participants in several schools and community sports, clubs, and activities, and strong academic students and volunteers both within the club and community.
Recognizing longtime Club Volunteers:
During the evening, Port Coquitlam Eurorite FC also took a moment to recognize three longtime volunteers for their countless hours on the field working with players and in meetings planning and organizing programs. Steve Dunlop, Cindy Friesen and Tracy Nolet were recognized as visionaries who have grown the club in specific areas and continually build foundations for the players of tomorrow!
Steve Dunlop
Steve Dunlop has coached with the club for seven years. He spent time as the director of the club board and was the Mini Girls Coordinator for 4 years. Thereafter, he continued the club board as director of Sponsorship.
It is in this role that Steve was a visionary and had his biggest impact. Steve started the club’s relationship with Tim Hortons for the U6 – U8 program. He was then instrumental in establishing the club’s relationship with Eurorite Cabinets. Through the annual kitchen raffle, the club has been able to raise over $400,000 that has directly funded youth soccer programs.
Steve has also had the vision to transform the year end mini jamboree into a community celebration of soccer and fun, and for 9 years he’s lead the mini jamboree!
Cindy Friesen
Cindy embodies “soccer for life”! She’s played with the Women’s Classic division since 2006 and was an assistant coach for her daughter’s team from 1997 until 2006! Cindy began serving on the club board of directors in 2004, and in 2008 when she became the adult coordinator she made a profound impact.
At the time the club had just one men’s team and one women’s. Today there are 13 women’s teams in the club and the women’s soccer program has become a true leader in the Metro Women’s Soccer League, providing opportunities at all skill levels from recently graduating youth to players well into their 50’s! Cindy was also recognized for starting a coed drop-in on Friday nights and an adult learn to play program that encourages adults to play soccer for the first time!
Tracey Nolet
Tracey coached or managed a team for nine years and has served on the club board of directors for eleven years, from 2007 to today. A member of the board she has taken on many roles, but in the last 6 years as Vice President, she has become a rock and solid foundation for the club.
Tracy re organized and re structured all administrative and operational functions within the club that are so critical for a successful club of over 2500 youth and adult players. Tracy was recognized for work with field allocation, field and gym contracts, game and ref scheduling, registration, volunteer programs, referee development, staff contracts, BC gaming grants and so much more.
Eurorite Cabinets would like to congratulate all scholarship winners and volunteers for their hard work!
